The Motorola Atrix HD was released back in 2012 which means that as far as smartphones are concerned, it is old news and its technology could also be considered to be very out of date. Now the handset was originally launched with Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich and was upgradeable to Android 4.1 Jelly Bean, but unfortunately that’s where the line is drawn.Motorola has recently confirmed (via Droid-Life) that the handset will not be updated to Android 4.4 KitKat. “We apologize that we and AT&T will not be upgrading Atrix HD to Android KitKat, as we had hoped. We know how important software upgrades are to our customers, and we’re very sorry that our two organizations were unable to follow through in this case.”
No doubt we’re sure this will bum many owners out but at the same time, Motorola is offering to compensate customers with a $100 discount on the Moto X Pure Edition or the Motorola Whisper Bluetooth earpiece. With the $100 discount, the Moto X will now be priced at $299.99 while the Whisper will go for a very affordable $49.99.
