Whether or not you might be into cars, chances are you might have heard of the BBC’s TV series Top Gear. The show was in the middle of its 22nd season when all of a sudden, it was put on hold due to an incident in which one of the show’s hosts, Jeremy Clarkson, punched one of the producers of the show.
Clarkson was eventually let go and his co-hosts, Richard Hammond and James May left with him, supposedly to create a new show. It was speculated that Netflix could be the company to pick up the new show and if the rumors are to be believed, it seems that the company is “close” to signing a deal with Clarkson, Hammond, and May for their new TV series.
That being said while it is unclear as to who might be picking up the show for now, Clarkson has reportedly confirmed to The Sunday Times that a new show is indeed in the works and will see him reunite with his former Top Gear hosts. The announcement is expected to be made in the next few weeks so we guess we should know everything by then.
Netflix has been known to put out some pretty impressive TV series of their own making, such as Orange is the New Black, House of Cards, and let’s not forget Daredevil. Without the usual restrictions that mainstream TV channels and studios face, it will be interesting to see if Netflix along with the trio can create something that will rival what they have done back at the BBC.
