Our fitness trackers can do more than just track our fitness. Thanks to developers and their creations, our wearables can also be used to control our smart home appliances, and the good news is that if you own a Misfit Flash tracker, you will be pleased to learn that the company has recently made some updates where you can use your tracker to control your home appliances.
This is done through deeper integration with IFTTT, which for those unfamiliar offer up “recipes” for automation of tasks, along with the ability to control your smart home devices via Logitech’s Harmony Home Hub, for example double tapping the Flash device in order to turn on the lights, which was one of the examples offered by Misfit.
In addition for Flash users, the company has also announced that they will be integrating with Apple’s HealthKit framework, so that if you’re an iOS user and prefer having all your health data collected and displayed in the Health app, you now have that option of doing so with the data gathered by the Misfit Flash device.
There will also be a new web interface for both the Misfit Shine and Flash users. This means that you will be able to view the biometric data gathered by your wearable on a web interface so that you won’t need to keep checking the smartphone app if you wish to look up some data from your workouts.
