Lycos To Make Comeback With Connected Devices

We’re not sure how many of you out there remember Lycos. For those who are unfamiliar, Lycos used to be a popular search engine back in the days when the internet was still new and 56k dial-up modems were all the rage. In fact back in the day before Google came along, companies such as Lycos, Yahoo, AltaVista were some of the more popular search engines around.

Well it looks like Lycos has plans to make a comeback. The company has recently announced that they have plans to launch a new line of wearable and connected products that will fall under the Lycos Life branding. The initial launch will see two wearable devices in the form of a smart wristband priced at $125 and a ring that costs $60.

These devices will interact with your smartphone and will offer up features such as unlocking your phone or entering passwords just by tapping the Life devices against it. It will allow users to transfer information to other devices, like your contact number, business cards, or share an address just by tapping the devices together as well.

There will also be a built-in fitness monitor in which it will help track your steps, calories burnt, running speed, heart rate, and more. At the moment the Lycos Life products will be compatible only with Android devices but the company expects to roll out support for iOS devices later this year.
