So far no carrier in the United States has launched the Microsoft Lumia 735 but that changes today because Verizon Wireless has become the country’s first carrier to do so. Interested customers can now look forward to picking up this handset from Verizon, the handset that was initially released as the Nokia Lumia 735 in Europe before it was rebranded as the Microsoft Lumia 735.

Sadly the same story continues here, the story that’s all too familiar with Lumia fans wishing for a high-end device, which the Lumia 735 is certainly not. Microsoft hasn’t released a truly high-end flagship handset so far but reportedly intends to launch two in a few months from now.

Instead it’s a low-end device with a 4.7 inch 720×1,280 pixel resolution display, a Snapdragon 400 quadcore processor from Qualcomm with 1GB RAM, 16GB onboard storage, 6.7 megapixel rear and 5 megapixel front camera, LTE support and a 2,200mAh battery.

Customers can purchase it from Verizon on a two year contract for $79.99, off contract the carrier is asking $190 for it. It’s also available on the Verizon Edge installment program for 24 equal monthly payments of $7.99. It’s offered with a free one year Office 365 Personal subscription.

The Lumia 735 runs Windows Phone 8.1 and is eligible for an update to Windows 10 Mobile when it arrives possibly in September this year.
