It was earlier this month that word got around as to how Apple has plans for a new smartphone down the road which will see even less of a bezel – or eliminate it altogether if possible, in order to keep up with a similar trend that we see on TV screens these days. Well, that does seem to be a novel idea for sure, in addition to eliminating the well loved home button. However, it does not look as though Apple will be the only ones with such an idea, as a patent has been spotted that LG Electronics, too, would want to have a bezel-less handset on the market.
It is in recent times that LG picked up a patent that does reference an edge-to-edge phone. It does not stray too far away from Apple’s invention, and chances are pretty high that this particular handset too, would be constructed and manufactured by LG themselves, without offering anything else on the entire front portion of the handset other than an edge-to-edge display.
There will also be curved margins located on the top/bottom of the handset, and these could work as the ideal place for navigation buttons and shortcuts to be placed, letting you access your favorite apps as and when you would wish to. Looks like this is set to be the trend for newer generation smartphones down the road – perhaps a couple more iterations before it becomes the norm?
