The LG G4 is a great looking handset, especially if you like the idea of having a leather back. It also packs pretty impressive hardware specs under the hood making it a powerhouse of a device. Unfortunately, a small number (73) of LG G4 owners who are complaining of touchscreen issues on the XDA developers forum, in a survey.
- 21% of the 345 respondents said “yes” to the question “Do your G4 Misses or Unresponsive to Touch?”
- 34.5% said that they have no issues whatsoever
First of all, the sampling is not really significant in statistical terms since LG has shipped hundreds of thousands, if not millions of units. Secondly, the quality of the data doesn’t really impress either, but some users are seeing a real and documented problem, so it’s worth looking at.
According to these users, it seems that the handset’s touchscreen is having some problems in which it doesn’t seem to be able to register quick taps or swipes. This means that features such as Knock On and Knock Code aren’t as effective as they require users to tap on the screen quickly in order to wake it up and unlock it.
As you can see in the video above, it will take the user several tries before the taps are registered. Even downloading a touchscreen test app called Multitouch Test also shows that it has problems registering the taps. It is unclear as to what might be causing this issue as there are some LG G4 owners who claims to not have any problems with their displays.
LG is “aware” of the problem, and is looking into it, but have not yet come up with an official answer and possible solution for these users.
We can’t be sure if this is a hardware problem or a software problem, but hopefully it is the latter as it means that it can be fixed through the issuing of a patch. LG has yet to officially comment on the matter but hopefully these users who are afflicted will have it resolved soon. In the meantime any of our readers with LG G4s experiencing this problem too?
