lg-g4-industrial-design-16When LG launched the LG G4, some were surprised that the handset did not feature a glass/metal build that their rival Samsung had. In fact LG seemed to be adopting Samsung’s previous designs which adopted a leather back as one of its options. However this does not mean that a metal-made LG phone is out of the question.

According to reports out of Korea, word has it that LG is working on a new phone tentatively known as the LG G4 Pro. In order to differentiate the LG G4 Pro from the regular LG G4, it seems that LG will be opting for the use of metal in the LG G4 Pro’s build. LG is planning on using metal on the LG G4 Pro as a test run of sorts before deciding if the use of metal should be applied to future flagship models.

However one of the problems that LG is facing is the cost of production for metal bodies, which understandably is higher than that of plastic. Given that LG produces far less devices compared to companies like Apple and Samsung, the use of metal would undoubtedly end up eating into their profit margins.

That being it is unclear as to what else we might be able to expect from the LG G4 Pro. However we do know that LG has plans for a new flagship phone for the later part of the year, as confirmed in an earlier report, but we’re not sure if they were referring to the LG G4 Pro or another device but until we learn more, take it with a grain of salt for now.
