Are we at that point in technology where we are trying to make everything as small and compact as possible? We’ve seen computer displays shrink in terms of thickness, the rise of all-in-one desktops that try to do away with bulky cases, Ultrabooks, and let’s not forget our tablets and smartphones are essentially computers too.
Well it looks like PCs on a stick appear to be a new trend as Lenovo themselves have announced the Ideacentre 300 Stick. The concept is similar to what Intel has done with the Compute Stick which is basically a stick with a HDMI port that you can connect to a TV or a monitor, ultimately turning your display into a computer.
With Lenovo’s Ideacentre 300 Stick, it will sport an Intel Atom chipset clocked at 1.3GHz. There will be 2GB of RAM accompanying it along with 32GB of onboard storage, along with a microSD card slot for memory expansion. There will also be a USB port in case you need to plug an extra peripheral, like maybe a wireless receiver for your keyboard and mouse.
The good news is that Lenovo’s PC on a stick will be priced less than Intel’s Compute Stick by $20. It will instead cost customers $129 and it is expected to be made available this July.
