So, it has come full circle. After plenty of leaks and rumors surrounding the Huawei Honor 7 before its official release, it is finally made available to the masses – at least in selected markets at the moment. In a dedicated press event earlier this morning, the Huawei Honor 7 has been found out to be a new mid-range model that resides on the higher end of the spectrum, making it a somewhat hybrid class – I suppose to call it a three-quarter range handset would be rather weird.
Living up to the “Full Metal Jacket” tease earlier on, the Huawei Honor 7 will be all about metal, where its unibody is made out of aluminum alloy, and it will arrive in various shades of silver, gold and dark gray. Underneath the hood, one will be able to find its very own Kirin 935 chipset that will feature a quartet of 2.2GHz Cortex-A53 cores and a quarter of 1.5GHz Cortex-A53 cores, a Mali-T628 GPU and 3GB RAM. Definitely not the fastest chip on the block, but more than capable of handling content that will work with its 5.2″ 1080p display.
As for the back camera, it features a 20MP sensor with Phase detection AF, dual-LED dual-tone flash, a sapphire protective glass and an 8MP shooter in front, while the fingerprint scanner is located right below the main camera. Throw in fast charging capability, a 3,100 mAh battery, and Android 5.0 Lollipop, and you have got quite a winner here. True to earlier reports, the Huawei Honor 7 will arrive in a trio of models – the single-SIM model with 16GB of internal memory for around $320, $355 for the dual-SIM model, and $400 for the 64GB dual-SIM model. Pre-orders are already open today in China.
