For years app stores from Apple and Amazon have typically offered up free apps of the week. These are paid apps that are being promoted and for that week only, it will be a free download. Sometimes there are some pretty great deals in there and if you’re a bargain hunter, you won’t want to miss out on them.
Well it looks like Google is finally playing catchup as the company is introducing a free app of the week feature as part of the family section on Google Play. Unfortunately this promo isn’t as obvious as it could be as it would require users to navigate over to the family section on Google Play, and then click the banner to launch the purchase prompt in which it will state that it is a free download.
The app offered up right now is by PBS – Daniel Tiger Grr-ific Feelings. It should be noted that you will need to download it via the promotional banner as surfing on over to its regular Play Store page will result in it being charged its regular price to your account. It is unclear if this is a promotion that Google is having with PBS or if this part of something bigger.
Either way we will be on the lookout for more details surrounding this promotion, so hopefully next week Google will have a new app that they will be giving away for free.
