When it comes to vehicles these days, these four wheeled rides tend to get smarter and smarter – there are no two ways about it. In fact, our vehicles have become more connected than ever before to our lives, and this would also mean requiring a greater level of coordination and updates. Having said that, General Motors Co. is currently working on technology which will enable new features to be downloaded via a wireless manner – rather than having to send it to a service center for a hook-up to a console.
According to GM global product development chief Mark Reuss, General Motors hopes to roll out a spanking new electrical architecture for its vehicle range which will be known as “Global B”. Global B will be a step in the right direction that will see the vehicle’s computer power to the mobile internet. Reuss claims that “it will become Cloud based,” and such advanced architecture will then open up the doors for wireless downloads some time down the road.
This does beg the question as to whether security details will be thoroughly looked through, since an open door in would also mean that there will always be some minds out there who are more than willing to take a less noble route in accessing your vehicle – and perhaps, even track your whereabouts.
