Many of you might be aware of the fact that nearly two years ago Microsoft acquired the Gears of War franchise from Epic Games and then brought in developer Black Tusk Studios to get to work on a new title. That new title was unveiled for the first time today during the company’s E3 2015 press conference in Los Angeles. Microsoft confirmed that Gears of War 4 for Xbox One is going to be released in time for the 2016 holiday season, so no point in keeping your fingers crossed for a release this year.
The company treated us to lengthy gameplay footage which gave us our first look at what to expect from the title when it arrives next year.
Details about the title are thin at this point in time, and understandably so, it’s going to take over a year before the title is ready so we have plenty of time in between to learn more about Gears of War 4 from Microsoft.
Even though it’s called Gears of War 4 this is actually the fifth title of this franchise after Gears of War 1-3 and Gears of War: Judgement.
The possibility exists that Gears of War 4 will get a proper moniker by next year when the release date nears, for now Microsoft is actually content with calling it Gears 4. Expect more information about this title to surface in the coming months.
