Not long after Samsung unveiled the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge at the Mobile World Congress 2015 in March, analysts started to predict that the new handsets will perform well in the market. Some went so far as to claim that the company will be able to move as many as 70 million units of these smartphones by the end of this year. Amid rumors that perhaps sales of the Galaxy S6 were not up to the company’s expectations, a report out of Korea says that so far sales are in line with Samsung’s internal targets.
So far Samsung has not provided any official sales figures for the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge but it is understood that they have crossed the 10 million unit mark, possibly in less time than the Galaxy S4 and Galaxy S5 took for the same milestone.
Moreover, there have been multiple reports of Samsung actually struggling to meet up with demand for the Galaxy S6 Edge. It may be the more expensive of the two flagships but it appears to be driving sales for the company.
The Korea Times cites a Samsung official who told the scribe that sales of the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge are meeting “our internal target,” adding that “S6 sales will clearly be higher than those of the S5.” The official is also quoted as saying that Samsung will aggressively promote the handset in its target markets.
So if this report is to be believed, it’s smooth sailing for Samsung’s latest flagship smartphones.
