One of the perks of owning an Android device is the ability to customize it however you want. For the more hardcore user, this might involve rooting your device and adding features and tweaks that aren’t available for the casual user. As for the casual user who might be too lazy, they might simply download and apply themes which are quick and easy.
Now with the Samsung Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge, Samsung introduced official themes to the handset and it turns out that this was a pretty good idea. According to a report from SamMobile, it turns out that the themes offered by Samsung have since been downloaded over 600 million times!
There are different themes that are popular in different countries. For example it has been found that the Iron Man theme is the most popular in South Korea while the Urban theme appears to be popular in China. In the US, cars seem to be favored as the BMW i8 theme is the most popular here.
Themes for Android smartphones aren’t new. In fact there are plenty of options out there where users can download launchers and home screens with different themes, or resort to apps such as MyColorScreen where everything is categorized and applied for you instantly, but it does seem like a smart move by Samsung to make it an official feature. What do you guys think? Have you been enjoying that particular feature of your phone?
