Late last year Samsung launched three new handsets with the monikers Galaxy A3, A5 and A7. It was revealed a few months later that the company had filed trademarks for Galaxy A6, A8 and A9 which hinted that it had plans to take this smartphone lineup forward. We have been hearing rumors recently about the Galaxy A8 and with each passing day it seems that the launch of this smartphone becomes inevitable, merely days after pictures of the handset were leaked it has now made the customary stop at the FCC.
The FCC filing doesn’t bring any new information regarding the handset, only that it has support for dual-band Wi-Fi and LTE, but that was already known.
According to previous reports the Samsung Galaxy A8 is going to have an octacore Snapdragon 615 processor with 2GB RAM, 16GB onboard storage, 16 megapixel rear and 5 megapixel front camera, fingerprint sensor, Android 5.1.1 Lollipop and a 5.7 inch full HD Super AMOLED display all packed in a metal frame that’s 5.9mm thin.
From the looks of it this is shaping up to be one of the most feature intensive mid-range smartphones that Samsung has ever come up with. So far the company has not revealed when it intends on launching the Galaxy A8.
It has been rumored previously that perhaps it may only be released in a few markets but until there’s official confirmation of that we can’t be really too sure about the device’s availability.
