Ford’s Cameras Will Help Drivers See Around Corners
We’re sure it has happened to you on more than one occasion where you’re at an intersection and you’re trying to look around the corner to see if there are any cars or pedestrians coming, but because of something blocking the way, it’s hard to do so. In a bid to help make driving safer, Ford has come up with the idea of attaching cameras to the front and rear portions of cars.
What this does is that the cameras will allow drivers to see cars or pedestrians coming on their sides, thanks to the use of a tri-view display that will give drivers the necessary information. The camera on the back pretty much does the same thing as the front and will also help drivers who are backing out of a parking spot or the driveway.
As it stands cameras for reversing aren’t new, but Ford’s idea expands on it and its field of vision which should come in handy for drivers. The good news is that this isn’t a concept but an actual feature Ford will introduce to their cars. The Split View feature is expected to make its debut in the 2015 Edge, followed by the 2016 Explorer in the US and China.
Drivers in Europe can look forward to the feature in the nw S-MAX and Galaxy, with Ford expecting to roll it out globally to all their vehicles by 2020.
