While in the past many of Blizzard’s decisions have led to players being miffed, it seems that this one was big enough for Blizzard to pay attention to and kind of revert their original decision. In a recent blog post on the World of Warcraft blog, Blizzard outlined a compromise that they have reached with regards to flying in Warlords of Draenor.
In fact this is one of the compromises that we had initially thought of and we’re glad to see that Blizzard is thinking along those lines as well. According to Blizzard, “We’re planning some changes in the near future that will allow players to enjoy their hard-earned flying mounts in Draenor—in a way that doesn’t compromise the excitement of ground-based exploration.”
Basically they will be introducing a series of achievements that players need to complete in order to learn flying in the Warlords of Draenor zones. Players are expected to explore all of Draenor’s zones, collect 100 treasures, complete the Loremaster and Securing Draenor achievements, and raise three reputations in the Tanaan Jungle to Revered.
Now this is admittedly a lot of work but not completely impossible. In fact to reward players for accomplishing this feat, they will be giving players a rylak mount dubbed the Soaring Skyterror. This feature will debut in the upcoming Patch 6.2.x, but players can start to earn it when Patch 6.2 goes live. So, what do you guys think? A worthy compromise?
