Last week during E3, Bethesda announced a special edition of Fallout 4 in the form of the Pip-Boy Edition. This is a unique bundle as it comes with a Pip-Boy wearable that the gamer can wear on their wrist, slot in their smartphone and with an accompanying app, have it act like the actual Pip-Boy in the game, how cool is that?
Unsurprisingly it seems that the Pip-Boy Edition has proven to be a hit amongst gamers who quickly placed their order for the bundle which is priced at $119.99. In fact it proved to be so popular that retailers manager to get an extra allocation of the bundle, but it seems that if you weren’t fast enough, you could be out of luck.
Bethesda’s PR and marketing exec Pete Hines has recently confirmed that this will be the final allocation of the Pip-Boy Edition to retail stores, and once they have sold out, they will not be restocked. “This last allocation was the final one to all stores in all territories. Each store is being given their final allotment. How and when they make the available is up to them. But no more are being made.”
Hines cites quality as the reason why they won’t be mass producing the special edition of the game. “There are only so many we can make and maintain a level of quality. We don’t own our own factories.” What this means is that if you have pre-ordered a copy for yourself, chances are you might be able to resell it at a premium once stock is officially depleted as there are probably tons of Fallout fans clamoring to get their hands on it.
