Speaking to the folks at Digital Spy during E3 2015, Fallout 4’s director Todd Howard confirmed with the publication that the game would run at 1080p resolution across all platforms that the game is available on. It will also be played at a framerate of 30fps which is admittedly rather disappointing as 60fps would have resulted in a smoother gameplay experience.
It is unclear as to why Bethesda has opted for 30fps across all platforms, but presumably this is so that gamers of one platform won’t complain about it not being fair. Previously we have seen in the past how some games have better resolutions and framerates on one console versus the other, and how some developers have come up with a compromise that is fair to both parties, such as in this case.
Previously the company had also explained their choice of graphics and as to why it looks the way it does, claiming that due to the complexity of the game and the amount of choices they’re giving players that a balance had to be struck, but as we have said before graphics aren’t necessarily everything and hopefully the gameplay of Fallout 4 will be enough where gamers won’t complain too much about its looks.
In the meantime Fallout 4 has been pegged for a 10th of November release.
