Facebook Messenger Payments Now Available To Everyone In The US

Last month Facebook rolled out their Payments feature for their Messenger app. Unfortunately at that time it seemed like the feature was in testing and was only limited to NYC. Well the good news is that it looks like Facebook has decided that the feature is good enough for all and has begun rolling it out to the rest of the US.

According to Facebook’s David Marcus, “We’re happy to announce that Messenger person-to-person payments are now available to everyone in the U.S.! Add your Debit Card and pay anyone on Messenger in a few taps. Money goes straight from your checking account to the recipient’s checking account. Easy and safe. As always, give it a try it and let us know how we can make even better for you!”

For those who are unfamiliar with Messenger’s Payments feature, basically this is a service offered by Facebook that allows users to transfer money to each other over their Messenger platform. This might be handy for friends who are paying each other back or trying to split a bill at dinner.

It could also be handy for users who are interacting with sellers on Facebook and want to make a payment for a product or service, and can do so right away with instant confirmation. No word on if or when it will make its way out to the rest of the world, but for now everyone in the US should be able to access it.
