The E3 2015 gaming convention that took place in Los Angeles has finally concluded after all of the announcements and press conferences have been done with, for the first time in nearly a decade attendance at the E3 convention has topped over 50,000. This was announced by the Entertainment Software Association which organizes E3, it also provided some figures which show that this year’s convention was particularly a hit on social media.
Dates for E3 2016 have already been confirmed, next year’s convention will take place between June 14 and June 16. It’s a tradition to reveal dates for the next year’s convention once you’re done, we see the same with the Consumer Electronics Show which takes place in January every year.
Twitch was the official live streaming partner for E3 2015 and figures show that peak viewership for some of the press conferences crossed over 500,000 concurrent viewers.
E3 allowed companies taking part in the convention to invite some of their biggest fans which is why around 5,000 attendees that were present were not directly related to the media or industry as they were present on invitation by various exhibitors, that provided a boost in attendance as well.
It’s the first time that an E3 convention has crossed 50,000 attendees since 2006 after which there was a drastic drop in attendance following a format change, the drop’s effects lingered till 2008 after which attendance has gradually risen through the years.
Lets see if this momentum continues in the coming years.
