Driveclub was supposed to be a launch title for the PlayStation 4 but it went through multiple delays and when the title was finally launched it was riddled with bugs, so much so that the developers had to cancel the free PlayStation Plus edition of the game. Since then there hasn’t been much update on the status of Driveclub PlayStation Plus edition but Sony has reiterated multiple times that it will arrive at some point. When the PS Plus edition went live a few hours back many thought that it had finally been released, but that wasn’t the case.
It was actually released prematurely on the PlayStation Store which is why it was quickly taken offline. Even the PlayStation Store page for the PS Plus edition is no longer accessible.
Developer Evolution Studios has confirmed through a Facebook post that the release was premature because “the servers aren’t ready yet,” but it does say that it’s “preparing to launch” the PlayStation Plus edition of Driveclub.
Evolution does not provide a confirmed release date but if this is any indication, it may not be too long before PS Plus members are able to take Driveclub for a spin.
The developer has apologized for any confusion and inconvenience that this little episode has caused, while promising that will have news to share with fans in the very near future.
