Japanese Carrier Seemingly Confirms Snapdragon 810’s Overheating

ntt-docomo-sd-810Is the Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 overheating? Well if you believe the rumors, the answer is yes and it seems that this has recently been confirmed by Japanese carrier NTT DOCOMO. As you can see in the photo above, it shows a signage that was reportedly spotted inside one of the carrier’s stores.

According to the translation of the note, it mentions that phones powered by the Snapdragon 810 could potentially be prone to overheating and it also instructs users on what to do. Basically it tells users that they should periodically shut down their handsets to prevent it from running for too long which could overheat it.

They also suggest that phones should be turned off while charging, and to regularly backup their data in the event something goes wrong. There’s also the odd suggestion that users should not engage in tasks too demanding to prevent the phone from overheating. Now we can’t tell if the signage is real – after all anyone could easily print out a message, laminate it, and place it in a store, right?

That being said, it was just last month that Qualcomm themselves had come forward to address the rumors. According to the company’s VP of marketing Tim McDonough, he was quoted as saying then, “The rumours are rubbish, there was not an overheating problem with the Snapdragon 810 in commercial devices.” He also implied that the rumors were false and were spread to sabotage their business.
