This is the third time that we’re hearing that T-Mobile might be purchased by another company. AT&T tried back in 2011 but its bid was blocked by the regulators and AT&T had to end up paying a heavy price for it. Then Sprint decided to try its luck for a merger between the two carriers but that didn’t happen as well. Now there are reports that Comcast might be interested in buying T-Mobile.
Many of you might already be aware that Comcast is reeling from a failed merger attempt with Time Warner Cable which couldn’t go ahead because regulators were not in favor of it.
According to a report by Reuters, T-Mobile U.S. parent company Deutsche Telekom is in talks with Comcast over a potential sale of the country’s fourth largest mobile carrier.
Dish is believed be conducting talks with DT as well but according to the report T-Mobile’s parent company views Comcast as a much more suitable match for T-Mobile U.S.
Neither Deutsche Telekom nor Comcast have commented on the matter and the report doesn’t provide any information regarding the kind of money that will be involved if a deal materializes. For all we know it may never happen, or perhaps the third time’s going to be the charm for T-Mobile.
