It must be noted that the MediaTek MT8173 chip happens to be the fastest ARM processor in the world as at press time, at least according to the folks over at MediaTek. This particular 64-bit MT8173 happens to be a quad-core SoC that will sport a pair of clusters of processing units, where one of them is a dual-core Cortex A-53, while the other happens to be a dual-core Cortex-A72.
As for its performance, MediaTek is pleased as punch to inform the masses that the MT8173 is capable of a ‘six-fold increase in performance compared to the MT8125′. That’s saying something, yes? Needless to say, the MT8173-powered Chromebook had the Chrome OS as the operating system of choice. I wonder if this has anything to do with rumors of Google working on new Chromebooks…
