There were rumors flying around last month that HTC of Taiwan could be looking into the monetization of BlinkFeed, and it looks like those rumors have now turned into fact, as HTC has officially confirmed that they will start to push out advertisements over BlinkFeed. I suppose that this has been quite some time in coming, considering how the company has not been doing gangbusters on the financial aspect so far.
Basically, those who are in the United States, United Kingdom, Germany, China as well as its home country, Taiwan, will have the privilege of being the first to “enjoy” native adverts from within BlinkFeed itself. It will work in the form of a targeted system as it show apps which are deemed relevant to the individual user. HTC’s group of developers will also tweak the user interface to have it look as though it is an ordinary story within the feed itself.
As for the content sourced, it will hail from the likes of AdNetworks partners, where among them include Yahoo, Twitter and HTC. Do bear in mind that nothing is final just yet, as this remains a pilot scheme at this point in time, and you will have the option to opt out if you so desire. [Press Release]
