Over the past couple of months, BlackBerry has been working on several new features for the BBM messaging client, such as Private Chat. Well the good news is that if you’re a fan of BBM and were looking forward to this update, you’re in luck as BlackBerry has officially announced that they will be rolling out the update across all devices.
The update will finally introduce Private Chat to users who weren’t part of the beta program. For those who are unfamiliar with Private Chat, basically it is what its name implies. This allows users to create a private chat group in which names will not be displayed, and will have its contents erased once the conversation is over.
It should be noted that the feature is only available to those subscribed to BBM’s Privacy and Control subscription which is priced at $0.99 a month. Along with the subscription, users get access to unlimited timed messages and pictures, retracted messages and pictures, and the ability to edit messages.
The update will also introduce a Material Design makeover for users of the Android version which has been teased for about a month now. The update should be available in your respective app stores so load it up on your phone and you should be able to download it.
