We reported a few days back that AT&T would soon be launching the larger of the two Lumia 640 models in the United States and that day has finally come today. AT&T has officially launched the Lumia 640 XL, this smartphone was first unveiled at Mobile World Congress 2015 in Barcelona back in March alongside the Lumia 640. It’s not a high-end flagship so don’t expect a powerhouse but it’s certainly the best of what Microsoft’s hardware division has to offer right now.
Earlier today T-Mobile announced the launch of Lumia 640 on its network, that’s the smaller sibling which has more or less the same specifications, the only real difference is the display size.
The Lumia 640 XL has a 5.7 inch display, a Snapdragon 400 processor, 8GB onboard storage, 13 megapixel rear and 5 megapixel front camera. It does have a 3,000mAh battery.
The handset runs Windows Phone 8.1 with the Lumia Denim update installed out of the box, it has already been confirmed for an update to Windows 10 Mobile which it arrives in a couple of months.
AT&T is going to release the Lumia 640 XL on June 26th, customers can purchase it for $249.99 at full retail or pick it up on an AT&T Next plan for 20 equal monthly installments of $12.50. It will also be offered with a conventional two year contract.
