That being said it looks like over in Singapore where the watch was launched today, the reception of the wearable was definitely not what many had expected it to be, which was lukewarm at best. Now there some who queued up for the watch in the morning but it seems that the queue more or less died out by the afternoon.
According to one Wilfred Phua who was one of the customers in line, “I queued there early this morning around 7am, and was surprised to be 12th in line. I think those who already wanted one would have gotten it when it first launched.” Phua was not alone in his surprise as IDC Asia’s VP of research Bryan Ma echoed his sentiments.
“I will say that I was surprised to see that stock was still available when I visited an outlet at around 4pm today. I was expecting to hear of reports of much longer lines too, especially in an Apple-crazed market like Singapore.” It is unclear as to why the watch is facing such lukewarm reception in the country.
Perhaps customers have read the reviews, most of which are mixed, and decided that maybe they’re better off waiting for the next-gen Apple Watch or opting for a cheaper alternative. In the meantime neither Apple nor its resellers in Singapore have offered to comment on the demand for the wearable.
