According to a support page on Apple’s website, it seems that Apple wants you to rinse the Apple Watch and the digital crown under running water. One of the instructions stands out which reads, “Continuously turn and press the Digital Crown as water runs over the small gap between the crown and the housing.”
We have to admit that we were pretty surprised by these instructions as electronics and water typically don’t mix. We know that the Apple Watch is water resistant but wouldn’t press and turning the digital crown allow water to seep inside your smartwatch? Then again we suppose Apple knows what they’re doing otherwise they wouldn’t have recommended it, right?
That being said, previous tests have revealed that while Apple does not recommend users to go swimming with their device, it has been proven that the watch can definitely take a lot more water than advertised, so if this solution to your grime-ed up digital crown sounds a bit scary, we reckon it should not be an issue.
