Amazon Launching Catastrophe Series On Facebook

Catastrophe Season 1 - Official Trailer | Prime Video

Amazon is going to bring the British comedy series Catastrophe to the United States, it’s not going to launch the pilot episode on Prime though, which is the company’s home for all things video. Instead Amazon is going to launch the pilot episode on Facebook, it’s going to post the 30 minute episode on its Facebook page. This is the first time that Amazon has done this, normally is debuts new content directly through Prime.

The pilot episode of Catastrophe will be posted to Amazon’s official Facebook page on June 15th where it will be available for free for 48 hours, you can watch it starting Monday, 7 pm ET.

As previously mentioned, this is the first time that Amazon has done something like this. It was previously allowed people to watch first episodes of new shows free though access was provided through Prime and not the world’s largest social network.

Amazon has the exclusive online streaming rights of Catastrophe in the U.S., it obtained them after the series initially aired on UK’s Channel 4.

After being up on Facebook for 48 hours the pilot episode will then be available through Prime Instant Video. Subscribers will be able to view the pilot and all of the episodes from the first season through Prime Instant Video starting June 19th.
