If you have been playing the Fallout franchise long enough, you will remember that in the new world, or post-apocalyptic world, cash is not king. Instead bottle caps are used as the currency in the game and interestingly enough, a fan of the Fallout franchise has recently sent the folks at Bethesda a whopping 2,240 bottle caps in order to pay for the recently announced Fallout 4.
According to GatorMacheteJr, “Fallout 3 was my favorite game for several years, so I made the rational choice to start saving up bottle caps. Turns out 4.5 years of undergrad and three years in a Master’s program leads to a lot of drinking.” The end result is a package weighing more than 11.2 pounds which we can only imagine was from a lot of bottles.
It is unclear if the folks at Bethesda have received the bottle caps and more importantly, it is unclear as to whether they will accept it as payment! However given that the game’s price was listed in “pre-war dollars”, perhaps Bethesda might want to consider accepting his bottle caps to start saving up for the future.
Seriously though, we’re not sure if Bethesda might be inclined to accept it because it might start a precedent in which other gamers try to pay for the game using bottle caps too. However as GatorMacheteJr states, “I’m hoping if this post gets popular enough their PR department will be too nervous to turn me down.” What do you guys think? Should Bethesda accept his offer as a one-time deal?
