YotaPhone 2 U.S. Release Gets A Taste Of Lollipop

We heard a little while back that YotaPhone 2 could soon be making its way to the United States. The company is not going to link up with a U.S. carrier to launch its unique smartphone, rather it’s going to launch an Indiegogo campaign and sell the device through the campaign. The campaign will be kicked off soon, and it has been discovered today that YotaPhone 2 will arrive in the U.S. running Android 5.0 Lollipop.

A white version of the handset has been spotted as well but the new paint job appears to be limited just to the ePaper display side of the device.

The company has confirmed that its campaign is going to be launched on May 19th, it promises Early Bird deals for customers who are quick to place the order soon after the campaign goes live.

It has not yet been confirmed how long will it take for units to be shipped after the campaign ends its 60-day run, but if it starts shipping immediately then customers will probably have it in their hands by the end of July.

Even though the Lollipop update has not been released as yet for the international version of the YotaPhone 2, the company’s website makes it clear that the handset will come running Android 5.0 in the U.S. No word as yet on the changes that this update brings to the device.
