We have known for a while now that Tag Heuer is one of the biggest Swiss watch brands that’s working on a smartwatch. We know that the company is working with Intel and Google on this product. So far Tag Heuer has not shown off its first smartwatch but the company’s CEO has confirmed that the product will be called Tag Heuer Carrera Wearable 01.
Those who are familiar with the company’s watches will know that “Carrera” is a popular lineup of models that Tag Heuer sells. The company’s CEO Jean-Claude Biver revealed in an interview that from a distance one will not be able to see “the difference between a Carrera Heuer 01 and a Carrera Wearable 01.”
Carrera Heuer 01 was unveiled by Tag Heuer at the Baselworld 2015 show in March, it’s the watch that you see in the picture posted above. If Biver’s remarks are anything to go by then Tag Heuer’s first smartwatch could look quite similar to the watch you see above.
So far Tag Heuer has not confirmed when it’s going to launch its first smartwatch, though it has been suggested in previous reports that it might be released in either October or November 2015 and may cost around $1,400.
Will customers think that this price point is justified for a luxury Android Wear smartwatch? Only time will tell.
