Android 5.1.1 has already been rolled out to quite a few Nexus devices and it appears that the next in line to get this update is the Nexus 5, seeing as how Sprint has updated the support page for this handset to reflect that it will soon receive the Android 5.1.1 update. Recently said update was released for the Nexus 9, the Nexus Player and even the Nexus 10 tablet.

The support page for Nexus 5 has already been updated by Sprint to show that the latest software version available for this device is Android 5.1.1. This means that build LMY48B will soon be rolling out from this handset.

Given the fact that Nexus devices receive their software updates directly from Google, this change by Sprint could mean that all users of the handset across the globe will soon get on Android 5.1.1.

Android 5.1.1 isn’t exactly a major update. To be honest even Android 5.1 wasn’t but it did bring a couple of new features and important performance tweaks. This particular update brings some much needed bug fixes for the device but that’s all there is to this update.

Nevertheless, users are definitely advised to update to the latest version of Android when it lands on their device so as to ensure that the software is bug free and has its security all patched up.
