We have been hearing for quite some time now that later this year Microsoft is going to launch a proper Windows powered flagship smartphone. In the recent past Microsoft has seemed content with launching only mid-range and low-end device, so it’s well past time that a full-fledged flagship arrived on the scene. Specifications of two purported flagship handsets have been rumored.
The first flagship is rumored to be codenamed Lumia Cityman, apparently this will be a phablet with a 5.7 inch 1,440×2,560 pixel resolution Quad HD display. It may have a Snapdragon 810 processor from Qualcomm coupled with 3GB RAM, 32GB onboard storage, microSD card slot and a 3,300mAh removable battery. A 20 megapixel rear and 5 megapixel front camera are also rumored.
Lumia Talkman is said to be the second device, a flagship handset with a 5.2 inch 1,440×2,560 pixel resolution Quad HD display. It may be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 808 processor with 3GB RAM and backed up by a 3,000mAh battery. It’s rumored to have the same camera setup as the Cityman.
Obviously there’s no indication yet from Microsoft that these devices are in the pipeline. Seeing as how they’re likely to arrive later this year, if they’re real at all that is, then it’s very much possible that these might be the first two devices to come with Windows 10 for Phones pre-installed.
