Sony Xperia Z Range Receives Android Lollipop At Last
Better late than never, or so the adage goes. I suppose that works best if we are talking about fragile human lives here, heading for a certain destination. When it comes to the rather ruthless world of updates and new software, it is always best to be first or early in front, otherwise your competitors would have the advantage over you, and you would definitely be off for the worse. Sony Xperia Z owners, the agonizing wait is over as Sony has started to seed the Android Lollipop updates for the Sony Xperia Z and Xperia ZR. These new firmwares will be available only Over The Air (OTA) at the moment, but do expect to see them being made available via Sony PC Companion in due time, too.
These updates happen to weigh in at approximately 700MB in size, and will ensure that the Sony Xperia Z and Sony Xperia ZR gain additional sweetness with the Android 5.0.2 Lollipop update. This means you can now enjoy Google Material design across the user interface and its compatible apps, take advantage of intelligent lock screen notifications and customizable settings, gain support for multi-user profiles and guest mode, to be able to move apps to the SD memory card, among others. Just make sure you have around 2GB of free space prior to making the OTA, and it should be plain sailing after that.
