This launch is said to cover Sony’s E-mount series of cameras and will most probably see the launch of the Sony A6100, the successor to the Sony A6000. This is definitely not the first time we’re hearing about it, but hopefully this time the dates will end up being true and we will hear something official.
Their source has also told them that the A6XXX will replace the NEX-7, a camera that was launched back in 2011. We had previously heard that an A7000 camera could be in the works that would act as a replacement/successor to the NEX-7, but now it seems that the rumors are claiming the A6XXX will replace it instead.
Unfortunately as far as the rumored Sony A7rII is concerned, Sony Alpha Rumors’ source has been unable to confirm if the camera will be launched at the same event or if it might take place at a separate event of its own. Given that the A7-series of cameras are full frame, chances are the A7rII will most likely appeal to a different group of photographers. Take it with a grain of salt for now, but we’ll keep our eyes peeled over the next couple of weeks for more details.
