However it looks that feature could soon be removed. This is according to Snapchat’s CEO Evan Spiegel who spoke at the Code Conference in Los Angeles this evening. Spiegel was asked by the conference’s hosts Kara Swisher and Walt Mossberg about the feature in which Spiegel said that the reason it was introduced was to circumvent the lack of a Screenshot API on the iPhone.
Like we said, this was one of the security measures Snapchat took in order to prevent users from taking screenshots of what are supposed to be private snaps. That being said with iOS recently introducing a Screenshot API, Spiegel has suggested that the feature could soon go away.
The details of future Snapchat updates were not shared by Spiegel as he claims that he did not want to give away any surprises, although he strongly hinted that the removal of this feature was one of them. In the meantime are Snapchat users glad that this feature could soon be removed, or did you think it was a good idea?
