There has been a lot of confusion lately regarding GTA 5 mods. Many forums were filled with GTA 5 players who complained that they were being banned for using mods, whether online or during single player missions. It’s pretty clear that Rockstar won’t tolerate gamers using mods online but it was expected that gamers who use mods in single player won’t be disturbed, yet some claimed they were banned even for that. Rockstar has now cleared things up.
Rockstar has posted a new Q&A online which finally explains its stance with regards to Grand Theft Auto 5 mods. It says that the modding policy has not changed for GTA 5.
It points out that recent updates for GTA 5 on PC had an “unintended effect” which banned single player modifications, Rockstar says that this was not intentional and that it will not ban any player for using single player modifications.
“You should not worry about being banned or being relegated to the cheater pool just for using single player PC mods,” it doesn’t get any clearer than this.
Rockstar explains that its primary focus is to protect GTA Online against modifications which can give some players unfair advantage over others. It wraps up by appreciating the creative efforts of the PC community for GTA titles and ensures gamers again that they will not be banned for using single player mods.
