Over the past few months it has been rumored that Samsung is working on a new smartwatch, one with a round design. We didn’t see it at Mobile World Congress 2015 when the company unveiled its new flagship handsets, the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge. It’s believed to be called the Gear A and many expected that Samsung will launch it over the summer. According to a new report Samsung’s round smartwatch has been delayed.
The company had said previously that it was taking its sweet time with this device to ensure that it would launch the perfect smartwatch, certainly that will be for users to decide whether or not the Gear A really is perfect in its class.
The company never did provide a concrete timeframe for the release but word on the street was that it would arrive in the first half of 2015. A report published today claims that Samsung has now delayed it to the second half of this year.
Apparently the company is going to pair the launch with that of its next-generation phablet, the Galaxy Note 5, which isn’t expected to be unveiled until IFA 2015 in September.
It should be kept in mind though that this information comes from an unofficial source so the possibility remains that Samsung might do what it may have originally planned to do, launch the Gear A in the first half of 2015. Samsung itself has not commented on this report yet.
