However we suppose to be fair, the advancement of technology needs to keep moving forward, which is why thanks to a recent rumor from STJS Gadgets, word on the street has it that Qualcomm could be working on a 10-core processor which could manifest itself in the form of the Snapdragon 818.
Apparently how this works is that it will be a combination of three sets of cores. There will be four low powered cores from the Cortex A53 clocked at 1.2GHz, two mid power cores also A53s but clocked slightly faster at 1.6GHz, and four high powered cores feature Cortex A72s clocked at 2GHz.
Now we’re not sure how this works as previously the octa-core setup is based on ARM’s big.LITTLE architecture, so we’re not sure how a three core set will function. In any case it seems that work on the Snapdragon 818 is still in its early stages so we might not necessarily see it anytime soon, but until we hear from Qualcomm officially, do take it with a grain of salt.
