For users looking to charge their smartphones while they’re driving, they’d have to buy a in-car charger and in turn plug the charging cable into their device. It’s a pretty convenient solution but for those who think that in-car charging solutions could be better, you will be pleased to learn that Qualcomm and Daimler have teamed up to develop something new.
Both companies will be looking towards creating wireless in-car charging solutions and at the same time, looking at how wireless charging technology could also be applied to electric vehicles. Imagine how convenient it would be to charge your car wirelessly, as opposed to having to seek an outlet to charge your car.
According to Daimler executive Thomas Weber, “It’s important that we remain on the cutting edge of technology and continue to deliver unparalleled experiences to our customers. With this in mind, we are eager to jointly explore possible fields of future cooperation with an internationally leading tech firm like Qualcomm.”
It is unclear as to how far ahead their efforts are, but it sounds like an exciting field. Given that more companies are starting to develop electric cars, not to mention there have been talks that Apple themselves might be getting into electric cars, such wireless charging solutions could prove to be highly beneficial to consumers.
