Last month Google officially announced Project Fi. For those who missed the news, basically Project Fi is Google’s attempt at being their own carrier, although to be fair they will be relying on T-Mobile and Sprint’s networks for coverage. That being said customers who were interested then could request for an invite, but at the number of invites Google has since received, it is not surprising that there are some users who have yet to be confirmed.
Thankfully this is something that Google is working on as the company has recently confirmed via emails to its users that the rest of the invites should have reached everyone who has requested for one by mid-summer. The company states that they are sending out invites as fast as they can, but they won’t compromise on quality which is why there are still some users who have yet to receive theirs.
Google has also stated that they plan on launching a tool that will let users check on the status of their invite. However as we have seen in the past with services such as Gmail, Google+, and more recently Inbox, Google has no trouble taking their time with sending out invites. It is understandable as Google needs to ensure that the service won’t be overloaded and that it can handle the amount of customers without compromising on the user experience.
After all what good is having a service open to everyone if it becomes hard to use, right? Project Fi is currently priced at $20 a month flat with data being charged at $10 per GB, and data that is unused will be refunded.
