Don’t get worried when you’re unable to access the PlayStation Network on Monday. PlayStation Network will be down for about nine hours on May 11th as part of a scheduled maintenance. Sony has confirmed that on May 11th the network will be taken down for maintenance and it expects to get everything sorted out within nine hours, though there’s always the possibility that more time could be required if some unforeseen gremlins pop up in the system.
Sony does this from time to time so it’s certainly nothing new. Prior to conducting maintenance the company informs users about the time during which PSN will be down so that they’re not caught unaware.
The last time Sony did this was on January 15th earlier this year, it been a few months since then so it makes sense for Sony to schedule the maintenance as all that time has passed.
This time around though Sony is taking quite a bit of time to sort things out. Maintenance will start on May 11th at 7:30pm PDT and will end on Tuesday May 12th at 5:00am PDT.
During this time PSN account management, PlayStation Store and PlayStation Video will be affected. Gamers will be able to play games online if they’ve signed into their PlayStation Network account within 24 hours prior to the network being taken down.
