If you’re in the market for a new GPU that won’t cost you an arm and a leg, you might be interested to learn that NVIDIA has taken the wraps off their latest GPU in the form of the GeForce GTX 980i, the successor to the GTX 980 which has subsequently received a price cut in the process.
The GTX 980i isn’t exactly cheap as it is priced at $650, but it isn’t as expensive compared to the Titan X which is still sitting at around the $1,000 mark, thus making it more accessible to gamers who might have a little more to spend. The GTX 980 in the meantime has gotten a price cut where it is now $500 so if you’re not too fussed about having the latest, it does seem like a pretty good deal.
NVIDIA has also reduced the prices of some of their older GPUs, like the GTX 970 which is now $330 and the GTX 960 which is priced at $200. If these cards were previously out of your reach due to their price tags, hopefully they will be more accessible now. That being said, what can we expect from the GTX 980i? The GPU will share some similarities with the Titan X, like its 336GB/s maximum bandwidth.
It will also come with 6GB of GDDR5 memory and while that is admittedly less than the Titan X, the company believes it should be able to perform just as well. It will also come bundled with Batman: Arkham Knight.
