This premium service will cost users $9.99 a month or $49.99 a year. This will not replace the free features currently offered by the app. Instead it will add more features to the app and will also not come with ads that might otherwise be annoying or intrusive for users. According to the app’s founder Mike Lee, “People want to go beyond the calorie. We want to offer them a way to make custom reports, to dig deeper into the nutrient density of the food, and to customize the measurements used to plan their meals.”
Prior to this, the app was aimed more towards users looking to lose weight by keeping track of their calorie intake, but now thanks to this premium service, the company hopes to target more power users, like bodybuilders who might be trying to perfect their protein intake, or more professional athletes who are trying to optimize their diet.
This isn’t surprising when you consider that Under Armour is now the owner of MyFitnessPal, an acquisition that was announced in February. The paid premium service will be available on both iOS and Android, so if you’re curious about what it does and if it might be able to help you, head on over to its website for the details.
