It looks like Microsoft is moving slowly but surely in the right direction where the mobile world is concerned – as the company has just announced that Cortana will be making its way over to the Android platform before June s over, while folks who are rocking to iPhones from Apple will be able to enjoy the wonders of Cortana later this year – with no specified date just yet.
Just in case you were wondering, Cortana happens to be Microsoft’s smart personal assistant for Windows 10 PCs as well as Windows phones (not to mention making accurate predictions), and this would be a more ambitious cross-platform mobile strategy that is centered around the recently announced Phone Companion app for iOS and Android. The latter is said to assist users when it comes to configuring their handsets with their machines that run on Windows 10.
It would be interesting to see how users of iPhones and Android-powered handsets would see Cortana, let alone install it, and whether Siri would feel jealous with all of the attention that Cortana would bring upon its release. What do you think of the situation? Another thing to consider would be this – with Cortana arriving on Android and iOS platforms, is there any reason to stick to Windows-powered smartphones from now on?
