We have known for a while now that Microsoft is hard at work finishing Office 2016 before it has to be released to consumers later this year and now the company feels confident enough to let people have a look at the preview version. Today Microsoft Office 2016 public preview has been released, anyone willing to try out the new productivity apps from Microsoft can go ahead and get the preview on their computers.
Prior to launching the preview version Microsoft released some apps from Office 2016 for developers and IT professionals in Windows 10 technical preview builds. Now though even regular folks can get in on the fun.
Microsoft does remind people that Office 2016 Preview is still a work in progress so not all of the features that it expects Office 2016 to have by the fall will be available for use right now.
The company also says that between now and the expected consumer release in the fall new features will be added to Office 2016 every month. Folks interested in trying out the preview version can go here to sign up.
All Office 2016 applications, which include the popular Word, PowerPoint and Excel, have received a fresh coat of paint. They’ve also received many new features such as real-time co-authoring, ability to attach files from OneDrive in Outlook and faster analysis capabilities for Excel.
Microsoft expects to ship Office 2016 to consumers this fall, soon after Windows 10 is finally released.
